The Phonic Training Programme is aimed at those Teachers and Teaching Assistants who are ‘New to Phonics’. The content will cover material which is appropriate to all EYFS, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two staff.
The sessions will include theory and research, practical activities, support with planning for progression and opportunities for teaching phonics across the wider curriculum.
Aims of the Day:
- To understand the theory behind teaching phonics and to have an accurate knowledge base.
- To understand what ‘best practice’ in teaching phonics is and to know how to apply this to own classrooms
- To share ideas for phonics teaching within a discrete lesson; including resources and activities.
- To understand how phonics fits into the wider curriculum; including Guided Reading and Writing.
“This was very informative and worthwhile training for a Key Stage 2 Teacher who does not have phonics embedded into everyday teaching.”
“Clear, practical ideas for all ages. Thank you.”
